Oncology Medical Billing Specialist

Non-Exempt –Full Time (32-40 Hours per Week)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position is part of a team that is responsible for managing medical insurance claims for cancer radiation therapy services. Duties may include phone calls being made to the insurance company and/or patient to resolve denials and unpaid claims. Incoming customer service calls will be included in daily responsibilities. The Accounts Receivable Team should strive for expertise in insurance reimbursement and establish open communication with third party payers. This position requires specialization in claims management for medical benefits in areas such as radiology, radiation therapy services, commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicare Med Advantage and CMS compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Two years physician billing experience preferred. Understanding of medical billing process and insurance claims, reimbursement, and knowledge of explanations of benefits required. Must be able to work independently and within a team. Excellent customer service and communication skills a must. General understanding of medical terminology, physician coding, commercial, Medicaid & Medicare medical insurance coverage.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: High school graduation or GED, with two years of experience.
