Division Manager

Position Overview

C.A. Murren and Sons Co., Inc. MidAtlantic Division is based in Herndon, VA. We perform heavy civil operations for clients in the commercial, industrial, and military markets within a 50 mile radius of Herndon. We are seeking a Division Manager who must have self-perform experience in water/sewer/storm projects and dirtwork/grading projects. Successful Division Manager candidates must have at least 8 years’ experience at Senior Project Manager, Operations Manager, or Project Executive level.

The successful candidate will be responsible for pursuing work and managing all operations performance as the Division Manager. This leader will need to have a firm understanding of resources available in his or her region as well as a complete understanding of business development opportunities in the market. The successful candidate shall have established relationships with potential clients and the ability to create a sound business plan for growth through backlog. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of project financials and the ability to execute projects at top of market returns. The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter with a strong propensity for proactive behavior. The leader will need to be able to make decisions quickly and be responsive to client and internal needs. The candidate must have the ability to travel to clients and projects within the MidAtlantic Division as required. The candidate will need to have a passion for heavy civil construction and the energy to continue growing a regional operation.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and grow regional presence through strategic relationship building
• Build and manage a team of capable individuals to deliver business plan
• Set and meet revenue and profit goals
• Prepare yearly business plan and quarterly updates
• Review monthly cost reviews and take ownership of results
• Foster a culture of execution within your department

Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
• 8 years of Senior Project Management or Operations Management experience leading civil construction projects
• Prior estimating experience a plus
• Prior experience managing projects ranging from $10-$20M
• Demonstrated business development results
• Experience managing self-perform work REQUIRED
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Prior involvement in leadership development programs a plus
• Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Suite, HCSS, AgTek, PlanSwift, P6

Requirements:

• Must have valid driver's license
• Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening program.
