Full-time Description JOB SUMMARY AND SCOPE Responsible for the oversight of plant operations, maintenance, biomedical service, security, and housekeeping for the organization. Works to ensure that State and Federal standards are met and that safety and building regulations are not violated. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Oversees all plant operations, maintenance, biomedical services, security, and environmental service functions.
Establishes and directs departmental goals and objectives in accordance with those of the hospital administration to provide and assure the basic needs for the welfare, comfort, and safety of patients, visitors, and staff as they relate to maintenance, repair, operation, and modification of all hospital buildings, grounds, mechanical, and electrical systems and equipment.
Manages Maintenance, Security, and Environmental Service Management staff.
Establishes and directs all Department policies and procedures.
Oversees the management of construction projects including project budgets.
Manages departmental budgets within set guidelines.
Serves as the hospital Safety Officer and chairman of the Environment of Care Committee responsible for hospital safety.
Orders and makes purchases of material or replacement parts necessary for the continued operation of the buildings and associated equipment.
Maintains departmental compliance with all applicable accreditation standards, as well as all applicable federal, state and local statutes, ordinances, laws, rules and regulations.
Ensure that all department staff members maintain compliance with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Management of quality improvement and assurance activities.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the hospital's mission, vision and values as well as the service excellence standards while completing all tasks and responsibilities.
Adheres to the organizational leadership profile.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Performs duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
Complies with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures
Other duties, as assigned, that are relevant to the position and department
Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years' experience in plant operations and maintenance field.
Minimum of 3 years of Supervisory experience.
Maintain certification in IS-00100.HC, IS-00200.HC, IS-00700.HC.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
The director must maintain strict confidentiality in all areas of hospital business.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND ENVIRONMENT Moderate: Occasionally lifts to 25 pounds independently. Occasionally pushes/pulls 100 pounds. Stands or walks often. EXPOSURE RISK Exposure Category III: Employee not reasonably expected to be at risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens. QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Maintains current knowledge of the hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program.
Develops and implements appropriate quality improvements for the department.
Develops quality initiative projects and the methods necessary for initiating, testing, data collection, analysis, and reporting the effectiveness of the project.
Establishes indicators to monitor departmental service in response to complaints, identified problems, variances, sentinel events, or new services as well as patient outcome oriented indicators for high volume and/or high risk services.
Reports all Quality Improvement activities, measurements and results per the established reporting structure.
Participates in the annual review of the Quality Improvement/Patient Safety Program.
Participates as a member of functional and/or process improvement team as appropriate to position or requested.
Provides Quality Improvement orientation, training, and continuing education for all departmental staff.
Involves all departmental staff members in the Quality Improvement Program's plans and processes.
Is accountable for identification and mitigation of risks and hazards within the department.
COMPLIANCE
Adheres to the federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
Adheres to the Compliance Program policies and procedures of Down East Community.
Adheres to all Privacy and Security policies and procedures of Down East Community.
Communicates any concern related to compliance issues to Compliance Officer.
Communicates any concern related to confidentiality issues to the Privacy Officer.
Educate, train, and supervise staff on all related compliance issues.
