The Dauphin County Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for a part-time, varied shift position of Public Safety Officer in the Office of Safety and Security. Salary is commensurate with experience and applicants with current Act 235 certification are eligible for higher hourly rate.Hourly Wage increases up to $5.00 per hour with Merit Raises. Paid Professional Training. Flexible Schedule. 4, 8, and 10-hour shifts available (7am-5pm, 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am, 10am-2pm). Biweekly Pay Direct Deposit Shift differential pay includes: Weekend Premium Pay (SAT & SUN): Additional $1.00 per hour 15:00-23:00 (3PM-11PM): Additional $0.75 per hour 23:00-07:00 (11PM-7AM): Additional $1.00 per hour SAT & SUN (11PM-7AM): Additional $2 per hourDescription for Internal Candidates

An employee in this position will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of buildings and grounds for County employees and the general public. Duties include but are not limited to performing the following:
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:
Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program.
At least one (1) year of security experience is preferred but not necessary.
Other Requirements:
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age by the date of hire.
Favorable criminal background check.
Applicant must pass a preemployment drug screening and physical.
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license is required.
