Would you like to work with special education students transitioning from high school to adulthood successfully in Rockingham and Caswell county? Help students become gainfully employed, and successfully engaged in post-secondary education/training, or other opportunities. If so, Community Workforce Solutions is the place for you!

Under the supervision of the Transition Services Manager, the School-Based Transition Instructor position is responsible for providing direct services to students (ages 14-22) with disabilities. This includes understanding and being able to communicate individually or in groups, to facilitate learning in the 5 areas outlined by WIOA regulations:

• Job exploration and counseling
• Work-based learning
• Workplace readiness
• Instruction in self-advocacy
• Post-secondary education counseling

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's in Special Education, Exceptional Children, High-School Education, or a closely related field, preferred. Extensive experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities may substitute for a degree. Must have a valid NC Driver’s License and driving record that adheres to Agency standards. Must be able to work in various schools in multiple counties. Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Salary

Commensurate with experience.

Physical Requirements

The position is considered sedentary to light, requiring 50% sedentary and 50% mobility. Travel between multiple schools within the county. Lifting less than 10 pounds. Requires visual observation and the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals.
