Description

The Small Group Account Manager is responsible for leading Small Group client relationships at the key contact level and creating a benefit strategy reflective of our clients’ goals and needs. Overall responsibility will be to meet those client needs through underwriting, educating, implementing, and servicing their assigned book of business.

Requirements

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ownership of development and maintenance of relationships with key contacts at assigned clients
  • Daily point of contact for assigned clients
  • Responsible for the annual underwriting process including but not limited to; requesting the census from the client as well as other data needed for quoting, competitive market analysis, plan and contract reviews, carrier negotiations, plan and invoice audits, proposed plan design, and rates, and contribution strategy development
  • Lead client renewal meetings (in person or virtual)
  • Ownership and project management responsibility for all client implementations and renewals including drafting the content for the Client Renewal Decision Email to inform timeline and expectations for technology or benefit communications
  • Ownership of final content review for all employee communications; including but not limited to; Employee Benefit Guide, technology, Open Enrollment presentation, enrollment forms, and ad hoc items
  • Execution of annual Open Enrollments meeting (in person or virtual)
  • Ownership of notifying the Client Services Team of any enrollment changes at Open Enrollment as well as during the plan year
  • Ownership of complete and accurate client and plan information in Benefit Zone
  • Ownership of escalated employee-level issues
  • Understanding the impact of current regulations on our client’s benefits package
  • Attend industry training to develop and maintain an exceptional understanding of the employee benefits industry
  • Manage ongoing relationships with the carrier community including understanding product trends, plan design, and underwriting methodology
  • Identifying business needs and proposing various products and services
  • Ownership of agency assigned Benefit Zone tasks as well as documenting and completing daily client tasks in Benefit Zone
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe. Benefit Zone, Mineral, and Employee Navigator.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources or other related field and/or minimum of 5 years of experience in the employee benefits industry managing a book of business
  • Active license in Life and Health
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with key stakeholders at clients and prospects
  • Advanced public speaking and presentation skills
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance carriers and employee benefits
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
