We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Growerto join our Growing department


JOB SUMMARY:

Supervise and motivate staff while promoting a positive and safe work environment. Supervise day to day growing operations on site. Responsible for daily irrigation and plant maintenance needs. Coordinate with Head Grower to determine crop cultural needs. Maintain environmental controls, assist with pest controls, sanitation of area, and crop layout.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the success and quality of assigned section of greenhouses and fields facility.
  • Communicate with Head Grower regardingcrop health, fertilization, growth, greenhouse climate and equipment issues.
  • Follow directions from Head Grower regarding crop growth protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain plant health by implementing appropriate irrigation, fertilization, and pest management techniques.
  • Direct and apply pesticides and PGR’s in a safe and effective manner.
  • Finish crops at quality spec on schedule.
  • Adjust and maintain misting schedules of propagation areas.
  • Responsible for monitoring fertilizer injectors.
  • Scout of pests and disease.
  • Planning and organizing workflow to ensure efficient and effective operations of the Growing Team.
  • Ensuring that team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Conduct yourself with high level integrity, adhering to Company standards and values.
  • Promote a safe work environment, upholding company safety policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform administration tasks that include teams time sheets and meetings.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability in assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring performance to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Precision and accuracy in monitoring crop growth, identifying pests and diseases, and ensuring that cultivation practices adhere to established standards and protocols.
  • Knowledge of plant environmental and nutritional needs.
  • Ability to cross train and serve as backup to other departments.
  • Able to interpretEC/PH test results.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Understands plants growth protocols.
  • Chemical handlers permit required.
  • A valid and current pesticide applicators license preferred.
  • Experience in greenhouse automation systems, environmental control technologies, and irrigation systems.
  • Growing experience 3-5 years expired.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with specific technologies, software, tools, or systems relevant to the role.
  • Solid understanding of basic mathematical concepts.
  • Bilingual preferred(English/Spanish).


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work long hours as needed. Including weekends and holidays.
  • Continuously walk, stand, squat, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds in an environment that is often hot.

PAY RANGE: $21 - $24 per hour


Pay rate is determined by various components including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The pay rate is one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards vary by position and location.
