At American Plastics, we’re proud to offer innovative products that meet the needs of our customers. To help us continue expanding our offerings, we’re in search of an experienced Product Manager. The Product Manager is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition of products or product lines. This role spans many types of activities, from strategic to tactical. A Product Manager provides cross-functional leadership and bridges organizational gaps between different functional groups, most often between engineering, marketing, sales, and support.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for gaps in consumer product offerings and an innovative mindset for filling them. This person should be a highly skilled market analyst with a proven ability to strategize the full lifecycle of a product, from conception to release. We’re looking for a confident candidate who can guide cross-functional teams in the creation of products that improve customer experience and grow market share.
This is a hybrid role for our Innovation Center, Mooresville, NC location. This position will report to the Vice President of Engineering.
Responsibilities
• Analyze customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build-vs.-buy perspective
• Translate business strategy into product strategy
• Develop Technology /Innovation/Product/Road Map
• Drive the execution of all processes in the product lifecycle, including product and market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements and roadmap development, and product launch
• Develop, Present and Execute Business Cases to drive Product Roadmap. Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI
• Drive action throughout the organization to get products to market
• Manage product profitability and commercial success – Own the business case
• Responsible for product vision and continuous improvement of features and/or products
• Provide insight to stakeholders on the product and market
• Provide product marketing with insights on key differentiators and messages
• Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans
• Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by Engineering team
• Collaborate closely with engineering, production, marketing, and sales teams in the development, QA, and release of products
• Working with outside parties to determine licensing opportunities or product partnerships
• Lead and obtain strategic buy-in from internal and external stakeholders
• Responsible for continuous improvement of product post-commercialization
• Develop and perform Sales & Customer Product Training
• Participates in Customer Line Reviews

Required Skills and Responsibilities
Strong experience in a dynamic product management role
• Proven success in overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle
• High effectiveness in managing cross-functional teams
• Experience in delivering finely tuned product marketing strategies
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills
• Candidate needs to understand how to research market trends, promote products.
• Must possess strong analytical skills to easily determine how to use market data to benefits the business in regard to strategy, development and pricing
• Be accomplished in problem-solving skills and recognize issues in the product development process as soon as possible and determine quick solutions
• Must keep everyone involved in development informed of progress or problems, making strong communication skills a must for your new hire
• A firm understanding of numerous processes, from programming and manufacturing to marketing and sales, ensures product managers can meet the technical demands of American Plastics
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in product design or engineering
• Proven success as a product developer in a nonmanagerial role
• In lieu of degree, a high school diploma/equivalent with four or more years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
• 3 years of payment experience/product management experience
• Knowledgeable in ecommerce and digital marketing
