Objective:

* The delivery driver is responsible for the timely and safe delivery of materials to customers and the pickup of materials when needed from vendors and customers

* The driver coordinates his activity to achieve optimum productivity and works carefully to meet or exceed customer expectations

* The driver is competent and friendly in order to create a good impression of Ashby Lumber.

* The driver is responsible for safely transporting company and customer goods

* The driver's efforts to deliver and pick up goods in a timely and safe manner affect the success of the entire organization, ensure customer satisfaction, and support business growth

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Interaction:

* Provide excellent customer service on all deliveries

* Always be professional in your contact with customers and their employees, as well as vendors, and know how to handle an upset or angry customer

Delivery:

* Possess a current Class A driver's license, clean Motor Vehicle Record, and be approved by our insurance

* Monitor and ensure vehicles are loaded properly and accurately

* Have a positive and upbeat attitude, even in heavy traffic and unusual driving conditions

* Assist and/or oversee the loading and/or unloading of products

* Be able to deal with a fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short-notice activity

* Remain in communication with Dispatch as needed throughout the day

Safety:

* Have excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws

* Complete Driver's Vehicle Inspection daily

* Pass random DOT alcohol/drug screening

* Operate vehicle safely in a manner consistent with Ashby Lumber Driving Policy

* Report all accidents in accordance with Ashby Lumber Driver Accident Reporting Policy

* Attend safety meetings monthly

* Must be able to lift/carry 100 lbs. occasionally
