Cherry Hills Community Church is Hiring a Controller Near Highlands, CO

The Controller leads the Accounting Team to steward financial assets for maximum Kingdom impact by establishing, monitoring and enforcing financial policies, procedures, controls, transaction-processing operations and reporting systems for CHCC. The Controller equips the Accounting team to provide world-class support, resourcing front-line ministries to function effectively and efficiently. 
Responsibilities: Operational Management:
Lead the Accounting Team to Resource Ministry Teams:
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all accounting functions.
  • Create and uphold empowering, value-add service level agreements.
Oversee and Manage Investment and Bank Accounts:
  • Update and reconcile investment reports.
  • Oversee and execute bank reconciliations.
  • Administer CEO portal, bank transfers, accounts, and signature cards.
Assist in Budget Creation and Lead Budget Reporting:
  • Support CFO and Finance Manager in annual budget creation.
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly budget reports and restricted/designated account reports.
Update and Maintain Capital Accounts and Fixed Asset Inventory:
  • Support CFO in capital reporting and planning.
  • Complete year-end fixed asset capitalization and depreciation.
  • Complete roll forwards and other year-end deliverables.
Provide Timely, Accurate Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Issue financial statements and provide analysis as requested.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for management and Finance Committee.
Field Questions Regarding Budgeting and Financial Matters:
Complete Other Accounting Transactions and Tasks:
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.
  • Partner with CFO and Finance Manager in the system administration of all ERP. platforms, including the Sage Intacct accounting system.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Complete other duties as requested.
Audit and Compliance:
Lead the Audit to Close with an Unqualified Audit Report:
  • Manage and oversee the annual external audit.
  • Provide PBC’s and other financial data requested by auditors.
  • Field questions from audit staff with excellence.
Enforce Internal Controls and Manage Regulatory Compliance:
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
 Team Leadership and Development: Recruit and Lead Accounting Team for Maximum Impact:
  • Focus on building a culture of love and unity.
  • Manage staff effectively, covering both measurable outcomes and engagement.
  • Provide direction, training, support, feedback, and coaching.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals.
  • Partner with Org Development for staff hiring, transitioning, evaluating, and developing.
  • Complete performance reviews and lead teams to achieve goals.
Recruit and Lead a Highly Effective Volunteer Team:
  • Identify volunteer roles, recruit, and build a culture of love and unity.
  • Train, lead, and guide volunteer teams for maximum impact.
  • Regularly cast vision, celebrate successes, and provide continuous coaching.
  • Serve as a resource for volunteers, addressing concerns and ensuring policy adherence.
Communication and Professional Development:
Assist with Accounting Training for New Staff Orientation.
Ensure Accurate, Timely Response to Communication Requests:
  • Manage email, voicemail, and communication requests professionally.
  • Model Servant Leadership and Exhibit a Helpful, Joyful Attitude.
Demonstrate a Commitment to Growth:
  • Identify and engage in relevant professional training and development.
  • Attend department meetings and all-staff meetings.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • Business experience and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred).
  • Preference for candidates with Certified Public Accountant designation.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Public Accounting experience with nonprofit clients is preferred.

PAY range: $81,233 - $125,915
Benefits: Eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Vacation and Sick Leave. 403(b) with Employer Match available after one year.
