The Office of Admission at Truman State University seeks a self-motivated, passionate, and dynamic individual to serve as an admission counselor. The admission counselor will have primary responsibility for recruiting new first-year students, with an emphasis on supporting one of the teams within the Office of Admission.
Duties include regional travel within an assigned territory, representing the institution with on-campus and off-campus recruitment events, participating in file reviews, counseling prospective students and their families through the admission process, and conducting individual meetings and presentations.
Recruitment
* Manage recruitment in Illinois territory.
* Manage communication within assigned territory to prospective students and other stakeholders.
* Represent Truman State University at recruitment events on and off campus.
* Meet with prospective students and families during visits to Truman State University campus. The meetings may occur in individual or group settings and both physical and virtual settings.
* Participate in file review of applications and recommend decisions to the admissions committee.
* Utilize enrollment and communication software in support of enrollment goals.
* Use data to make informed decisions.
* Other duties as assigned.
Team Responsibilities
* Serve on at least one of the teams within the Office of Admission; these teams include the Events & Visits Team, Graduate Team, Marketing & Communications Team, Recruitment Team, Transfer Team, and Operations Team.
* Assist with projects identified by team supervisor.
* Lead designated key responsibilities within the team.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree.
* High level of personal motivation, innovation, and enthusiasm for working in a team environment.
* Exceptional oral presentation skills.
* Strong written communication skills.
* Possession of a valid driver's license.
* Willingness to travel regionally and work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
* Commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
* Appreciation of a liberal arts education.
* Ability to stand for up to 3 hours at a time.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
