We are on a transformative journey to revolutionize community development, and we invite you to join us as the Director of Place-Based Initiatives.The Opportunity:As the Director of Place-Based Initiatives, you'll spearhead targeted initiatives addressing the unique needs of specific neighborhoods within our community. EHCEC is a dynamic force for change, and this role offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of innovative community development. Develop and implement strategic plans for place-based initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
Conduct community needs assessments to identify neighborhood strengths, challenges, and priorities.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop tailored initiatives addressing identified needs.
Lead project planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery.
Foster partnerships with key stakeholders, leveraging resources to support initiative goals.
Engage residents and community leaders, ensuring initiatives are responsive to community needs.
Advocate for policies supporting community development and equitable outcomes.
Provide leadership and supervision to program staff and volunteers.
Monitor and report on the progress and impact of place-based initiatives, using data for continuous improvement.
Represent EHCEC in meetings, conferences, and public forums, advocating for place-based community development.

Professional Skills & Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in urban planning, community development, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in community development, including managing place-based initiatives, including three years in a supervisory role.
Strong project management skills, leadership abilities, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in Google Suite and project management tools.
Commitment to EHCEC's mission and values, with a passion for creating positive change.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
An entrepreneurial spirit that can identify emerging opportunities.
Current and valid driver’s license.
Strong preference is given to candidates who reside in or may be familiar with the East Harris County region.

Physical Conditions:The staff person must be able to attend meetings on nights and weekends as needed. EHCEC is a collaborative work setting. Employees pitch in to help each other with responsibilities as needed.
