VEIC is nationally recognized for developing pilots and programs that optimize energy use, reduce energy burdens for low-income customers, and advance new technologies. In addition to our full-service consulting business (Energy Services), VEIC administers three large-scale sustainable energy programs: Efficiency Vermont, Efficiency Smart, and the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU).

Community Engagement Managers have a high level of public outreach, business development and/or customer support experience. Primary responsibilities include proactively developing, engaging, and managing relationships with communities, customers, and partners to help ensure everyone can participate in Efficiency Vermonts programs. Community Engagement Managers work closely with peers and leadership to develop long-term goals that advance Efficiency Vermonts mission. This position also works with internal and external-facing roles to bring customers' and partners' voices into our decision-making processes. This role is tasked with supporting customers and partners to manage energy use in a way that benefits the environment, stimulates the economy, and lowers energy costs for Vermonters.

This is a hybrid position that will be required to work from Vermont. Massachusetts and New York residents will be considered if they are able to regularly travel to Vermont for site visits. Responsibilities:
  • Develops strategic relationships and becomes a trusted and valued resource for customers, communities, and partner organizations.
  • Support customers to identify potential energy-saving projects.
  • Achieves energy savings, service, and partnership goals as measured against department and team metrics.
  • Serves as the voice of customers and partners by collaborating with internal colleagues to ensure that products and services offered by Efficiency Vermont address their needs.
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more energy efficiency technologies or customer segments to develop and implement initiatives that respond to specific customer or partner needs.
  • Extensive collaboration with internal colleagues, including Energy Engineers (Consultants), Customer Support, Program Managers, Senior leaders, and Regulatory Affairs staff.
  • Support Vermonters through both in-person engagement and in the digital space via social media channels and digital presentations, in partnership with the Marketing & Communications team. Participates in Efficiency Vermont outreach events as necessary.
  • Help build Efficiency Vermonts digital communities in partnership with the Marketing & Communications team to create engaging digital content (primarily distributed through social media platforms).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and values of VEIC.
  • Strong relationship-building skills including active listening, managing conflicts, and leadership.
  • Bachelors degree, and three to five years experience in public, community, or customer engagement in an energy or related field that demonstrates comparable knowledge and skills or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates comparable knowledge and skills.
  • Strong public and stakeholder engagement experience and skills, including comfort with public speaking to digital and in-person audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and help advance the goals of homeowners, businesses, and rental property owners, including the dynamics that may shape their decision-making.
  • Responsible for the ongoing satisfaction of all assigned accounts and partnerships.
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity and a commitment to delivering excellent service and partnership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including effectiveness in productive, respectful, and collaborative communications.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and proven ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate and accountable for follow through.
  • A valid drivers license and compliance with the Motor Vehicle Safety guidelines outlined in VEICs personnel policies.
