KALSEE Credit Union is Hiring a Collection Specialist Near Portage, MI

Description

The Collections Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and recovering outstanding debts owed to the credit union. The Collections Specialist supports the department in delinquency control. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and possess a strong ability to negotiate and problem-solve.

  • Collectors main responsibility will be to follow up on past due accounts, by phone, letter, text or email. All collection efforts will be noted in the Tracker screen on the system. 
  • Notify co-signers of delinquent accounts regarding delinquency status.
  • Skip trace accounts according to established practice.
  • Review status of delinquent accounts and initiate collection action.
  • Prepare paperwork for Bankruptcy, repossession, small claims or legal action on accounts as requested by Collection Manager/Vice President.
  • Complete file maintenance as needed on Judgement accounts and charge off loans.
  • File disability/Life claims as needed for members.
  • Process garnishments as received in a timely manner. 
  • Review all activities for compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations. Regulations include but are not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering / Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations.
  • Participate in annual training as required by the BSA/OFAC Compliance Officer
  • Perform other duties as requested

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in customer/member service required
  • Previous collections experience preferred 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 
  • Skill in aptitude for detail work
  • Ability to relate to members effectively
