Job Type - Unclassified (Part-Time without benefits)

Job Description:
Incumbent is responsible for performing routine labor functions within the Water Department.
Special note: This is an unclassified position. May be subject to working non-standard, rotating shift work to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays; to be scheduled approximately 24 hours per week but will not exceed 29 hours. Incumbent works outdoors and is exposed to extreme temperatures. Area of assignment will be in Water.
The ideal candidate will have general maintenance experience, light or heavy construction, operation of light or heavy equipment and tools. They would be familiar with normal construction safety procedures and practices and would have experience in working outside during inclement weather, summer heat and winter cold. Good customer service and communication skills are strongly desired.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) and one (1) year of experience performing general maintenance duties; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Arizona Driver's License of appropriate class.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Installs meters.
Raises and repairs manholes.
Performs asphalt repairs on roadways.
Performs concrete repairs on curbs and sidewalks.
Performs construction related activities, such as framing walls and remodeling City buildings.
Performs building facilities general maintenance and repairs, including janitorial services/duties.
Cleans and maintains City sidewalks.
Programs gate card readers.
Checks, installs and repairs irrigation systems.
Mows, weeds, plants, prunes, spreads seed, fertilizer and trims.
Marks fields and sets-up for special events.
Makes Park signs.
Moves and assembles office furniture.
Inventories supplies and materials.
Performs water sampling; reviews data results and assists with research should violations occur.
Researches and interprets applicable regulatory standards and statutes.
Assists the Division with preparing correspondence and reports to regulatory agencies.
Maintains regular attendance.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Methods, materials, and equipment used in construction, landscaping, and building facilities maintenance.
Irrigation and water systems.
Basic construction methods, including electrical systems, pipefitting, welding and fabrication and masonry.
Safety precautions.
City codes and ordinances, traffic laws and blue stake laws.
Water sampling.
Maintaining and repairing equipment.
Using hand and power tools.
Reading and interpreting blueprints.
Performing construction related activities.
Operating various equipment related to assignment.
Performing traffic control.
Performing landscape activities.
Installing and repairing irrigation and water systems.
Using and storing chemicals, herbicides and pesticides.
Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation and alcohol/drug screening test. Appointment subject to successful background investigation and City paid post-employment medical examination after offer of employment has been made.
