Position Overview:
Seylone is in search of a resilient and detail-oriented Excavation Laborer to join our Geotechnical and Environmental Division. This essential full-time role demands rigorous manual labor including the operation of various excavation tools and equipment. Ideal candidates will have robust physical stamina, a strong understanding of safety protocols, ensuring clean and orderly project sites, and an interest in supporting our operations through multiple capacities including equipment transport. The selected candidate will be instrumental in providing the critical data needed for our engineering and development partners, with compensation reflecting the high level of skill and experience brought to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure meticulous site setup and preparation to uphold Seylone's safety and operational excellence standards.
  • Perform precise excavation tasks using manual tools and techniques to ensure accuracy in digging and trenching activities.
  • Follow detailed plans and specifications for digging to meet project requirements without deviation.
  • Install and monitor shoring systems to maintain trench integrity and prevent collapses, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain a vigilant approach to workplace safety, actively participating in safety training sessions and adhering to all OSHA guidelines.
  • Regularly inspect equipment and tools to ensure they are in safe, working order and report any malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Manage site cleanliness by systematically organizing tools and materials and removing debris and spoil promptly to prevent hazards.
  • Operate light machinery and equipment, such as compact excavators and loaders, if certified and as needed.
  • Transport equipment and materials to and from sites safely if in possession of a valid CDL.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure that all excavation activities are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to integrate effectively into multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
  • Physical ability to work in diverse outdoor environments and demanding conditions.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses related to excavation operations are highly desirable.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in excavation or other physically demanding manual labor roles.
  • Mandatory OSHA 30 certification with a 10-Hour SST; 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) highly beneficial.
  • Practical knowledge of operating basic excavation machinery.
  • Excellent physical condition and the ability to perform labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leading engineering and development firms.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent mechanical, analytical, and communication skills.
