AudioEye Inc. is Hiring a Remote Senior Staff Accessibility Engineer

The Senior Staff Accessibility Engineer (Technical Lead) will prioritize digital accessibility by owning decisions, designing solutions, and addressing large-scale accessibility challenges to ensure our products meet high inclusivity standards. This role will enhance our products through research, development, testing, and maintenance of web-based solutions for complex accessibility issues on client websites. The SSAE may also provide technical analysis for accessibility-related legal claims.

How you’ll Contribute:

  • Promote accessibility by taking the lead in identifying and resolving accessibility and usability issues in our products and services while ensuring the practical application of current WCAG and Section 508 standards and best practices
  • Stay updated on the latest accessibility standards, best practices, and technologies, and how they apply to our technologies
  • Demonstrate proficiency in service-oriented architecture, data modeling, performance optimization, and end-to-end software delivery
  • Provide additional support, including participation in internal and external calls as a Technical Accessibility Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Proactively identify and resolve complex accessibility challenges, emphasizing quality and addressing potential edge cases in the work
  • Influence cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility into design and development, taking ownership of projects and addressing complex challenges
  • Independently integrate effective measurement and metrics into work while also contributing to defining measurement methods in project planning and evaluating project success
  • Remediate accessibility, usability, high-priority, and complex issues that support the internal teams
  • Thoroughly document accessibility processes, best practices, and standards, and assist in training and mentoring team members in accessibility principles
  • Generate customer value by comprehending both business requirements and the needs of end users benefiting from our technology
  • Develop web-scale solutions that balance immediate needs with long-term essentials, leveraging data insights for informed decision-making

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6 years industry experience as a software engineer, with a majority focus on accessibility and inclusivity
  • Deep understanding of prevailing WCAG and Section 508 standards and best practices is required (CPACC, WAS certification preferred)
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies
  • NodeJS/Javascript/Typescript, HTML, DOM, CSS
  • Experience working with open source technologies
  • React or equivalent MVVM framework
  • Relational database technologies, NoSQL technologies, document/object storage
  • git, GitHub, BitBucket, and general CI/CD pipeline experience
  • API design and best practices for both internal and external delivery
  • Experience building, maintaining, operating, and supporting large-scale SaaS products
  • Working knowledge of cloud vendors and technologies
  • Customer support experience (either directly, or in supporting a product)
  • Operational experience supporting an always-on software service
  • Working knowledge of tooling, methods, and best practices for safely and securely writing, delivering, and operating software products at scale
