Seton Hill University has an opening for a full-time Campus Police Officer.
The major job responsibilities include the protection of life and property, patrol, investigation, public relations, and community-oriented policing. Incumbent will be responsible for enforcing laws, local ordinances, responding to difficult or emergency situations, calls for service, and response to fire alarms. Campus Police ensures protection to all students, faculty, staff and visitors and provides a safe environment by patrolling campus property by vehicle and/or on foot.
Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission Act 120 training and be eligible for certification by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission (MPOETC), or graduation and completion of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy or equivalent state certification.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in person, by radio and by telephone. Must be able to conduct criminal investigations and have strong writing skills. Must also be able to drive a motor vehicle, handle situations that involve physical strength and agility and deal with heights. Applicants must be available and able to work all shifts and all days of the week, including mandated overtime, emergencies, special events and holidays. This is a sworn law enforcement position and the applicant must have demonstrated knowledge of law enforcement best practices and principles.
