Job Title: Survey Technician
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
General Purpose:
The Survey Technician operates CADD to prepare clear, complete and accurate surveys, working plans and detailed drawings from rough or detailed sketches and survey files
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Operate CADD systems and equipment to produce and print diagrams, plans, and drawings.
•Transform initial rough sketches into surveys using CADD systems, including Civil 3D.
•Knowledge of GIS and GPS systems.
•Prepare stakeout drawings and files and cut sheets.
•Review survey drawings to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
•Work closely with survey originators and project managers. Use sound judgement and discretion to recommend minor design changes as appropriate.
•Prepare Parcel Maps, Final Plats, Utility/Road Surveys as well as Boundary and Topographic Maps.
•Utilize knowledge of plotters, engineering systems, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
•Detailed knowledge of industry standards associated with the project type being worked on and ability to apply this knowledge in the completion of assignments.
•Other duties as required.
Qualifications
•Minimum 5 years progressive CADD drafting experience; 2 of which in survey.
•Technical School and/or Associate's degree in a related field required; bachelor's degree a plus.
•Ability to perform non-routine and complex assignments from verbal instructions and under minimal supervision.
•Extensive experience and familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
•Ability to rely on past experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with minimal supervision.
•Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail required.
•Proven ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some standing, bending and lifting (under 5 lbs) is necessary.
