Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. As an Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support to ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering high-quality eye care to our patients. This position requires a strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and patient care.

Duties:

- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including measuring visual acuity, tonometry, refractions with semi-automated and EHR integrated computer equipment.

- Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as Optos retinal imaging and Pentacam corneal topography

- Prepare patients for examinations by taking their medical history and documenting relevant information

- Administer eye drops as directed by the healthcare provider

- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems (Medent)

- Assist with minor surgical procedures, including sterilizing instruments and preparing surgical trays

- Perform basic administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant preferred. This job position is NOT open for non-certified technicians. For individuals who are uncertified, please see our other Indeed job posting.

- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to the eye

- Experience with electronic medical record systems (Medent) is highly desirable

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide exceptional patient care

- Proficient in performing vital signs measurements accurately

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

- Prior experience in retail sales or customer service is a plus
