Maintenance Planner and Scheduler

Newark, NJ

Salary Range: 90-110k

Job Overview:

The maintenance planner and scheduler is responsible for coordinating, planning, and scheduling all maintenance activities to ensure optimization of the team and minimization of asset and production downtime. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient and effective execution of the maintenance activities within the organization. They are expected to manage the work requests and subsequent work order process to great detail and additionally track required metrics to quantify performance of the department.

Responsibilities:

  1. Planning Maintenance Activities:
    1. Act as the main point of contact for external department customers and responsible for communication with all stakeholders
    2. Communicate with supervisors and director to align on priorities, department needs, and overall business need the maintenance department needs to support.
  2. Work Order Management:
    1. Review and manage content of Work Requests and transform into Work Orders
    2. Full ownership in the planning of Work Orders including the management of parts needed for the job prior to the scheduled date.
    3. Ensure Work Orders are clearly defined with detailed instructions and include the required materials, tools, procedures, and safety precautions.
  3. Scheduling and Resource Allocation:
    1. Schedule maintenance Work Orders for technicians in coordination with priorities of department and available resources
    2. Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate unplanned emergency repairs or changes in production.
  4. Performance Tracking and Documentation:
    1. Manage performance metrics in relation to work order management and resource allocation.
    2. Ensure all procedures are documented and safety compliance is captured.

This person will report directly to the Director of Maintenance and require full immersion into the Maintenance Governance Structure and Procedures. Collaboration with maintenance leadership, production leadership, and maintenance technician is essential to ensuring the success within the role and for the overall department. This position plays a critical role in optimizing the maintenance operations, maximizing asset reliability, minimizing downtime, improving labor utilization, and ultimately contributing to the overall productivity and profitability of the business.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in or an understanding of the maintenance department including but not limited to work requests, work order completion, and the maintenance planning process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a bonus if bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Detailed oriented with great organizational skills to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Some understanding of safety, maintenance best practices, and reliability principles
