Inspired Spine Health is Hiring a Perioperative Nurse Near Burnsville, MN

TITLE: Perioperative Nurse

DEPARTMENT: Pre, PACU

MANAGER: Nurse Manager

DEFINITION:

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director and Nurse Manager, the Perioperative Nurse is responsible for the delivery of optimum quality care to patients while in the Pre-Op, PACU, and Phase II of the Surgery Center.

JOB STANDARDS:

1. Education: Graduate of an NLN accredited school of registered nursing. BSN preferred.

2. Licensure: Current licensure as a RN in the State of MN.

3. Experience: Two years of PACU experience in the last 3-5 years preferred.

4. Special Skills: Strong interpersonal skills beneficial.

5. Certifications: Current CPR/ACLS required.

6. Working Conditions: Will be working in a clean, well-lit area. May be required to deal with

unpleasant environmental situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.

7. Hazards and Risks: Direct patient contact with possible exposure to communicable diseases, x-ray.

JOB SPECIFIC STANDARDS

Responsibilities

Supervises and directs patient care in the pre-procedure area and post-procedure area.

Assesses patient needs, develops individual plan of care, and identifies outcomes.

Ensures that appropriate techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice.

Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups including infant, child,

adolescent, adult and geriatric patients when providing care in the surgical suite.

Assists physician(s) and other endoscopy personnel as needed to ensure good patient care.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient care in the pre-procedure and post-procedure area.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of infection control practices.

Functions effectively in emergency situations and when under stress.

Provides patient/family education by utilizing clinical knowledge in an environment conducive to learning.

Assists in local monitoring of surgical cases.

Assists with pre-admission nursing phone calls and protocol.

Develops an individualized plan of care based on nursing assessment, medical and nursing diagnoses,

knowledge of specific illness, injuries, diseases, procedures, and appropriate standards of care.

Prioritizes and provides nursing care based on the individualized plan of care.

Takes the initiative to participate in continuing education and/or in-services to build and expand scope of practice.

Manage the care of patients receiving sedation or analgesic medications while undergoing invasive diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Medication administration, patient monitoring, discharge instructions, family teaching and patient safety concerns are all nursing care critical elements of patients undergoing moderate sedation.

Other duties as assigned.
