The University of Texas Permian Basin's Office of Advancement welcomes applications for the position of Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations
Salary Range

$82,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the Office of Advancement will solicit philanthropic gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the University of Texas Permian Basin which align with UTPB strategic priorities. This highly motivated professional will be involved with the planning and implementation of Advancement’s major gift fundraising efforts in support of current operations, endowment, capital, and other priorities from private sources. He/She will fulfill the duties under the direction of the Vice President of Advancement and in close cooperation with the University leadership.
1. Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies which include building, managing, and soliciting a portfolio of major gift prospects.
2. Establish strong relationships with the advancement team and university staff to foster a productive work environment.
3. Work closely with the Vice President of Advancement, the Advancement Team, college deans, and department heads as well as program, and center directors to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies in support of UTPB priorities.
4. Regional and national travel required for the purpose of conducting field research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, which may include overnights and weekends. Must have the ability and willingness to travel utilizing standard, commercial, and/or personal modes of transportation.
5. With direction from Advancement leadership and prospect management guidelines, create a personal and comprehensive yearly development operating plan outlining individual goals and objectives that comply with development officer performance benchmarks.
6. Attendance at all Development/Advancement staff meetings, fundraiser meetings, and required training is expected along with any division meetings to assigned colleges or university programs.
7. Ensure compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations, and treat all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

10. Have typical solicitation ranges of $25,000 to $100,000 to close $500,000 in solicitations per year using a three-year rolling average. Close on average 10 – 13 gifts per fiscal year.
11. Individuals should demonstrate professionalism, with strong communication skills and be capable of motivating volunteers and donors. Will be self-motivated, and will embrace the concept and attitude of teamwork in a complex organization.
12. Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales/marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, or experience in cold calling.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree *
2. Relationship-building experience
3. Willingness to travel on a frequent basis
4. Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience considered in lieu of education

Preferred Qualifications

1. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in higher education fundraising.
2. Proven success in building productive, relationships with senior administrators, key business leaders, faculty, staff, institutional boards, volunteers, and/or donors.
3. Experience working in a university environment.
4. Basic understanding of the concepts and principles of fundraising.

Schedule

Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.


Standard Working Conditions

1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
