About the role
As the founding member of Ramp's Privacy team, you will help develop, execute and scale our global privacy strategy.
You will drive initiatives to identify and address domestic and international data protection requirements, define technical and policy solutions, and support internal education and training. You will also represent the company externally in customer, partner and regulatory matters.
The ideal candidate will have experience building and managing privacy programs for businesses operating in complex, rapidly changing, nebulous areas of law and policy, balancing competing concerns, and translating broad principles into concrete solutions.
What you'll do
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Security and Legal to develop and optimize our privacy strategy by combining a deep understanding of regulation with creative product strategy and technical acumen
  • Monitor and help Ramp maintain compliance with state, federal and international privacy laws, and the implications of product development, marketing strategies and employment practices
  • Develop and help negotiate data privacy terms and produce collateral for partnerships and customer deals
  • Manage and help identify ways to automate privacy processes like data subject requests, privacy impact assessments, customer diligence and audits
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employees and regulators on issues related to data protection
  • Continuously improve privacy practices through training and education
What you'll need
  • Minimum of 6 years working in a privacy-focused role, ideally for a top-tier law firm that supported high-growth technology companies or directly for a high-growth technology company
  • J.D. with a strong academic background or experience in a privacy officer, privacy program management, or related role
  • Experience leading broad cross-functional initiatives, including managing resourcing from other teams, getting alignment on contentious topics, and completing large projects
  • Deep knowledge of privacy laws in the US, Europe, and other international markets
  • Hands-on experience building privacy programs
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills
Nice to haves
  • Experience working with payment or financial technology systems
  • Background in engineering or computer science
Benefits (for U.S.-based full-time employees)

    • Partially covered for your dependents
    • One Medical annual membership
  • 401k (including employer match on contributions made while employed by Ramp)
