This is a Full-Time 40 Hour Weekly position with the Department of Social Services Child Protection Services. For more information on the DSS, please visit http://dss.sd.gov .

The Division of Child Protection Services impacts children and families' lives every day by assessing safety, providing intervention, and securing stability for children. Duties include the transportation of parents and children; support services to Family Services Specialists, and provision of services in the homes of families receiving intervention services.
This position requires employees to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings, nights, holidays, and weekend hours. In addition, there may be responsibilities to travel in and out of state. This position will also require the successful candidate to possess a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a valid driver's license and be able to lift children (up to 30 lbs.) in a safe manner.
The Ideal Candidate Will HaveKnowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Successful applicant(s) will undergo an abuse and neglect screening. NCRC: If you possess a National Career Readiness Certificate, please submit the certificate with your application. For more information on how to acquire a National Career Readiness Certificate contact a South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation Job Service Office. A certificate is not necessary to be considered.

- prepare clear and concise documentation, reports, and correspondence that reflect relevant facts;
- actively listen, elicit needed information and communicate information effectively and accurately;
- follow instructions;
- organize time and resources to complete assignments and meet schedules and deadlines;
- operate a motor vehicle to transport children and family members;
- make appropriate and timely decisions in stressful situations and maintain objectivity.
