GENERAL FUNCTION: The Program Director is responsible for the overall management and development of all school age programs and staff in the Child Care Branch. Primary areas of responsibility include budget development and fiscal management for all departments assigned, financial development (fundraising), staff recruitment and training and compliance with all childcare regulations.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree required
  2. Minimum 1 year of management and supervisory experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful employee will demonstrate individual competency in the following areas:
  1. Ability to mentor, supervise and develop adults.
  2. Experience creating and monitoring budgets.
  3. Knowledge of youth development and positive behavior strategies.
  4. Excellent organizational skills.
  5. Ability to work independently without close oversight, but also as a team player.
  6. Effectively respond to questions from employees, directors, and other entities in a timely manner.
  7. Possess the ability to be flexible.

Job Requirements:

  2. Must complete CPR, AED and First Aid in accordance with Conditions of Employment
  3. Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
  4. Ability to lead and direct a team to reach organizational goals.
  5. Maintain positive open communication with all YMCA Branches, off-site programs, other community partners.
  6. Ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff, both direct reports and front-line staff, in multiple programs across the YMCA service delivery area.
  7. Ability to interpret, implement and enforce all childcare regulations.
  8. Understand and abide by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association and gain trust and bye in from staff teams.
  9. Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch, frequent split shifts and some evenings and weekends.
  10. Seek-out opportunities for growth, innovations in service delivery, program offerings and fund development opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The School Age Program Director is responsible for implementing Association policies and procedures, growing programs to meet the needs of families in our service delivery areas and leading a team across multiple locations and partner sites. The follow outlines the key areas of responsibility and task:
Staff Development:
  1. Develop and promote a participant-focused culture among staff based on relationship building, active listening and service above self.
  2. Ensue that all Association personnel policies and procedures are adhered to within the program sites.
  3. Complete timely performance evaluations of all staff to ensure that payroll and personnel information is accurate and submitted on a timely basis.
  4. Provide onsite management throughout the year at multiple locations.
  5. Develop, train and evaluate staff on quality curriculum and instructional practices.
  6. Oversee and provide support in hiring and training of new staff.
Program Operations:
  1. Facilitate program audits to ensure quality, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  2. Ensure that each program meets and or exceeds licensing standards per the KDHE guidelines.
  3. Develop and maintain contacts with community partners to promote and further opportunities for youth.
  4. Create and maintain an atmosphere that values diversity and inclusion.
  5. Be visible to staff and program participants.
Fiscal Management:
  1. Accountable for annual budget development, monthly budget monitoring and achievement of budget.
  2. Implement strategies to grow program enrollment through successful, high-quality programs and great customer service.
  3. Maintain and be thoroughly knowledgeable with systems of financial control including revenues, expenses, and inventories.
Financial Development/ Strong Community Campaign:
  1. Develop new ideas and income strategies.
  2. Engage, lead and support staff in accomplishing their respective donor and volunteer recruitment, development and giving to achieve goals for the Strong Community campaign.
  3. Participate in stewardship of current donors and actively recruit new donors to meet campaign goals.
  4. Achieve continued retention and growth in donor giving.
General:
  1. Demonstrate our four, character values: caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility.
  2. Ensure Association goals and strategies are adhered to and effectively communicated to staff and volunteers.
  3. Maintain complete familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
  4. Monitor and manage systems, drills and training related to risk management and safety for participants and employees.
  5. Adhere to all systems and procedures established by the branch and association.
  6. Participate in association-wide projects when needed.
  7. All other duties as assigned.
Effect on End Result: Leadership and guidance is provided that ensures the achievement of the goals and objectives of the Association and Branch with high levels of participation, satisfaction, and retention of participants, employees and generous supporters.
