Duties
This position is located in the Office of Strategy, Programs, and Engagement (SP&E), at the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). In this position, you will be responsible for assisting SP&E (Chief Strategy, Programs, and Engagement Officer; Senior Advisor; Discipline Directors; Coordinators; Specialists) in their efforts to provide national leadership and direction for NEA programs. You will:
-Provide technical assistance and administrative guidance regarding the electronic grant application submission process and review timeline to applicants and advisory panelists.
-Provide administrative support for the Office of Strategy, Programs, and Engagement (SP&E) and for assigned programs, such as preparing materials, organizing convenings, tracking tasks, and arranging travel requirements.
-Receive, review, and process applications for funding, including organizing those applications for panel consideration, following through the NEA's complete review process. Review work samples for completeness. Assist with the collection and tracking of information from prospective panelists and drafting of panelist approval materials.
-Research and prepare a variety of spreadsheets, presentation visuals, and reports using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and other database software programs, according to agency style.

Qualifications
Pathways Recent Graduate Eligibility - This announcement is being opened under the Pathways Program - Recent Graduates option. The Pathways Program offers opportunities to grow in your career through formal training and mentorship while earning valuable real-world experience. While the Pathways appointment is one year in length, individuals who successfully complete the program can be converted into either a time-limited or permanent appointment. To qualify under Recent Graduates, you must have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. If you are a veteran who could not apply within two years due to military service obligations, you can qualify for this program up to six years after the completion of your qualifying education.
NOTE: Qualifying educational institution means
(1) A public high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body, a private high school that provides secondary education as determined under State law, or a homeschool that is allowed to operate in a State; and
(2) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education:
(i) A technical or vocational school;
(ii) A 2-year or 4-year college or university;
(iii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or
(iv) A post-secondary home school curriculum.
You must submit transcripts to document any educational claims, or you will be rated ineligible.
In addition to qualifying as a Pathways Recent Graduate, you must also meet one of the following requirements:
A. At least one year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the federal government with experience in the following duties:
1) Utilizing knowledge of one or more arts disciplines to provide subject matter input on arts grants;
2) Assisting with programmatic and administrative work associated with arts-related application and grant processes; and
3) Communicating effectively and accurately with internal and external customers.
( You must clearly show in your resume and claim on the questionnaire how you meet ALL of the above experience if you are claiming this option, or you will be rated ineligible). OR
B. Superior Academic Achievement, by meeting one of these examples: Upper third of graduating class based on completed courses; GPA 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 on official transcript based on 4 years of college, or based on courses completed in final 2 years of curriculum; or GPA 3.5 or higher based on average of required major courses completed in final 2 years of curriculum; or member of a national scholastic honor society recognized by Association of College Honor Societies. OR
C. At least 1 full year of graduate level education at an accredited college or university which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of an Assistant Grants Management Specialist. OR
D. A combination of qualifying graduate level education, as described above, and specialized experience, as described above, which when combined totals 100% of the requirement.
