Position Overview

As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and support of electrical and control systems at the Topeka Manufacturing Facility. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of plant systems and machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • PLC Maintenance: Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including Allen Bradley ControlLogix and GuardLogix systems.
  • Electrical System Support: Maintain and troubleshoot plant electrical systems, including control and pneumatic components, vision systems, and robotics.
  • Technical Resource: Serve as a key technical resource for operational and maintenance teams, providing troubleshooting expertise.
  • Training: Deliver training on control and electrical systems to maintenance and operational staff.
  • Documentation: Record and update any changes to software and hardware configurations, ensuring compliance with backup procedures.
  • Safety Standards: Ensure all work complies with safety regulations as per company policy.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 5 years in a technical role within a manufacturing environment, or 3 years with an associate degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting, including ladder logic and sequencer programming.
  • Ability to interpret and work with electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with NEC regulatory standards.
  • Competence in managing electrical circuits, including 3-phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC, 24VAC, and VDC control circuits.
  • Availability: Willingness to work varied shifts and weekends as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • System Expertise: Experience with Wonderware/AVEVA System Platform and SQL databases.
  • Networking Knowledge: Basic understanding of Cisco architecture and LAN concepts.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in creating and modifying CAD drawings.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have 5 to 7 years of experience in a technical role within a manufacturing setting, though 3 years of experience combined with a relevant associate degree is also acceptable. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and the candidate should be open to working various shifts as needed. Management experience is not necessary.
