Ag Jobs is Hiring a GREENHOUSE WORKER Near Stoughton, WI
This individual will work closely with the Greenhouse Manager to help with potting and maintaining annuals (hanging baskets, potted plants, and vegetable production) as well as perennial plants as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare soil; plant bulbs, seeds, and cuttings; graft and bud plants; and transplant seedlings and rooted cuttings
- Monitor plants for healthy growth and potential weed, insect, disease, and fertilizer problems in greenhouse crops
- Position and regulate greenhouse and outdoor irrigation systems to water plants and fields
- Dig, cut and transplant flowers and plants and prepare them for sale
- May operate tractors and other machinery and equipment
- Maintain inventory and order materials as required
- Clean working areas
- Cover greenhouses and perennials when needed
- Mix soil as needed for potting in greenhouse
- Enjoy working with plants and can provide horticultural/botanical knowledge
- should possess some familiarity with plants and have a basic understanding of plant care, harvesting, soil, and water quality
- Have a strong attention to detail
- this role also requires a high level of attention to detail to identify when plants are ready for planting or harvesting or need special care and attention
- must be able to count and keep track of plant inventories
- Possess positive communication skills
- Ability to work with a team; be an effective verbal communicator and able to coordinate activities during a shift
- Can work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
- Must be able to stand, squat, sit, bend, and reach for extended periods of time
