Job: EHS Specialist
Location: St. Louis, MO
Shift: M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm
Position: contract with opportunity to be hired on
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 an hour based on experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in either a safety science (e.g. industrial hygiene, workplace safety) or a physical/biological science (e.g. chemistry, biology)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
Job Description:
The EHS Specialist – Industrial Hygiene will work under the supervision of the EHS Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Health Manager to provide site support on various safety-related activities.
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
o Perform pro-active area and operator sampling for exposure to chemical, physical, biological, and thermal stressors in the workplace;
o Characterize exposure risks to employees using both qualitative and quantitative means;
o Perform data entry of exposure monitoring results, write notification letters, and maintain databases of industrial hygiene-related information;
o Participate in all aspects of the risk management life cycle, including on-site risk assessments with area owners, risk characterization, and risk treatment;
o Recommend methods of exposure control based on the nature of hazards, level of exposure, and alignment with corporate policy and industry best practices;
o Work with area and process owners to identify potentially new exposure monitoring projects;
o Collaborate with Toxicology to identify hazards and acceptable occupational exposure limits;
o Collaborate with Engineering to execute various risk treatment and containment projects;
o Inspect, calibrate, and maintain industrial hygiene sampling equipment;
o Perform ventilation assessments;
o Assist with reviewing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs);
o Assists with training programs in technical areas, as needed;
o Performs related duties as required.
Specific skills required for this position include:

o Previous hands-on experience with sampling equipment a plus;
o Ability to multi-task in a dynamic and rapidly evolving chemical manufacturing environment
Educational Requirements:
o Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in either a safety science (e.g. industrial hygiene, workplace safety) or a physical/biological science (e.g. chemistry, biology)
o ASP preferred, but not required
o Willingness to work toward additional certifications (e.g. CIH, CSP, CHMM, etc.).
