Controller

Location: San Marcos, CA

Job Type: Fully onsite with flexible hours in a business casual work environment

Salary: $140k - $170k plus a 10% bonus target

Our client, a prominent professional services company with around $30 million in revenue, is looking for a skilled and dedicated Controller to join their team. This onsite position is based in San Marcos, California.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the accounting department’s operations and design an effective organizational structure to meet goals.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee all aspects of the budgeting process.
• Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures for proper internal controls.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting preparation.
• Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce financial reports and statements.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger.
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and cost reduction opportunities.
• Assist with the annual audit and coordinate with external auditors.
• Implement and manage accounting technology and software systems to improve efficiency.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team, manage work allocation, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or CMA certification required.
• Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar senior-level accounting role.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software, with Sage Intacct highly preferred, and MS Office.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of integrity, dependability, and a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
