Job Description

The Director of Finance for the Lakehouse Hotel and The Links is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the resort’s operations, ensuring financial stability, accuracy, and compliance with relevant regulations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the resort’s strategic goals and objectives, optimizing financial performance, and maximizing profitability while maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies and plans to achieve the resort's financial objectives.
  • Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to ensure effective resource allocation and cost control.
  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to the executive team for informed decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial performance indicators.
  • Monitor key financial metrics and provide insights into trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and regulations.
  • Accounting and Control:
  • Oversee all aspects of the resort's accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies.
  • Manage the annual external audit process and liaise with auditors as necessary.
  • Revenue Management:
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to optimize pricing strategies, revenue channels, and revenue management practices.
  • Monitor revenue streams from rooms, food & beverage, golf courses, marina, and other outlets.
  • Cost Management:
  • Control costs through effective procurement, inventory management, and vendor negotiations.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Treasury and Cash Management:
  • Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs and capital investments.
  • Oversee banking relationships and investments to maximize returns.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with all tax, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks and implement risk management strategies.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, including accountants, financial analysts, and other staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Strategic Planning:
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement the resort's long-term financial and strategic plans.
  • Provide financial insights to support growth initiatives and investment decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial leadership roles within the hospitality industry, preferably at a resort or hotel with similar amenities.
  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  • Knowledge of hotel property management systems (PMS) and revenue management tools is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
