City of St. Cloud is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Saint Cloud, MN
The City of St. Cloud is accepting applications for an Equipment Operator I within the Public Works/Sanitation Department. An ideal candidate for this position will have a Commercial Driver’s License, enjoy working outside on a variety of manual tasks, in various weather conditions, and promote a safety-first work environment.
Work within the Sanitation Department include:
· Picking up residential garbage in an outdoor environment
· Yard waste pickup
· Shoveling snow (seasonally)
With Public Works operations extending outside of conventional work schedules to meet the needs of the city, team members will work untraditional hours during snow and ice operations as well as during emergency maintenance activities. Candidates may also be chosen to work in the Street Division, where road, sidewalk and alley maintenance is conducted. All Divisions of Public Works support the common goal of providing High Quality, Cost Effective Public Service, in a team environment. Minimum Requirements:
*High school diploma.
*Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of medium/heavy duty motorized equipment.
*Class B driver's license (air brake qualified) that is unrestricted except for corrective lenses. *Must possess a Class A driver’s license (air brake qualified) with tanker endorsement within two (2) years of appointment.
Desirable Education and Experience: Considerable knowledge of the operating and maintenance characteristics of a variety of light/medium trucks, commercial vehicles and other motorized equipment used in road maintenance and/or sanitation collection; considerable knowledge of the operating hazards and necessary safety precautions; ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to medium/heavy equipment; skilled in the operation of moderately complex Public Works equipment, to include skid steers, apparatuses used to collect trash and recycling, plow snow, de-ice roads, patch traffic surfaces and haul materials; experience performing manual tasks in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time during all weather conditions.
