Youth In Need has been serving the greater St. Louis area since 1974 when volunteers reached out to the agency's first client. A teenage runaway, who left her home after another beating, was picked up on the streets and taken to the local jail with adult criminals. Troubled by the community's response to runaway and homeless teens, volunteers changed the way these teens were treated by opening Youth In Need's Emergency Shelter.

Today, more than 400 full- and part-time staff serve more than 8,000 of the area's most vulnerable children, teens, and families at nearly 100 locations in six counties in eastern Missouri.

**Schedule:** Monday-Friday; 7:00am - 1:00pm

This is an hourly position--$11.61/hour.

**Responsibilities**

* **Food Preparation (35%) :** Plan and preparing nutritionally sound meals and snacks. Ensure all health & sanitation and ServSafe measures are adequately followed when preparing food. Individualize and modify foods for specialized diets/allergies.

* **Kitchen Environment (25%):** Maintain standards of sanitation and safety within the kitchen environment. Clean, sanitize, inspect and maintain all utensils, food service equipment and food service areas. Ensure all equipment is adequately stored, cared for, replaced as needed.

* **Monitoring (20%):** Plan, organize, and place weekly food orders. Shop at local approved grocers as needed. Receive and verify all food deliveries. Label foods in accordance with guidelines. Submit invoices and receipts. Complete and maintain required paperwork needed for State Licensing requirements, Health and Sanitation Requirements, CACFP and HS Performance Standards.

**Qualifications**

You must have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE)

Possess math skills needed for menu planning and production. Ability to read, write, and understand directions. Computer skills needed to submit online orders. Individuals must be sensitive to the socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of the service populations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to navigate program-specific software.

Ability to be CPR certified preferred.

Experience in cooking for large groups and in a child care setting preferred.

This job operates in both an indoor kitchen, classroom and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Exposure to warm temperatures and chemicals occurs.
