**Description**
**Summary:** To plan, coordinate and manage all activities related to the purchasing and receipt of all maintenance, repair and operating (M.R.O.) goods and services as well as other assigned ingredient items. The position interfaces with Sales, Marketing, Maintenance, Production, QA, Product Development, Accounting, Logistics and Senior Management. In event of absence, position will be filled by adequately trained purchasing personnel.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other responsibilities w/ similar skill and work conditions as assigned.
* Negotiates and purchase all Ingredient and Plant Supply items to meet divisional requirements.
* Researches new items for R D. Provide samples as needed and provide feedback on those samples with suppliers in a timely manner.
* Create, implement, and manage formal requisition process for CSS items.
* Research and develop approved supplier base for all MRO products and services through evaluating supply capabilities, transportation logistics, pricing and delivery terms.
* Use a formal bid process to negotiate and secure contracts for all products and services within budgetary limitations and maximize cost savings.
* Coordinate material orders, expedite/prioritize, and assess purchase orders for accuracy and compliance with regulations where necessary.
* Interface with all departments to resolve problems and issues with purchased items, plan for future requirements, and determine appropriate inventory levels.
* Proactively perform supplier management activities through business reviews, supplier visits, and risk assessments.
* Maintain records and documentation pertaining to past activities, order specifications, supplier specifications and performance histories, etc.
* Performs continued supplier market analysis to determine trends, risks, and opportunities and develops a strategy to develop new or existing suppliers.
* Maintains adequate inventory levels and ensures POs are issued to support forecasts. Maintain good communication of POs status with supplier until delivery of product.
* Complies with Safety Policies.
**Education and/or Experience**
* Degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both education and experience.
