As as a Transporter - Van Driver at Miller’s, you play a key role in patient satisfaction and well-being. You are responsible for transporting residents to and from medical appointment and off-site activities in a company van.
You may be the ideal candidate if you:
· Have previous experience in healthcare/patient activities (preferred)
· Have good communication skills.
· Possess a current driver’s license and good driving record
· Are passionate about delivering excellent customer service
· Are professional in appearance and behavior
QualificationsGeneral:
1. Successfully complete pre-employment process and screening.
2. Able to pass physical examination given in behalf of gainful employment within the facility.
3. Satisfactorily pass through required orientation and training. Be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
Essential Functions:
1. Schedule and/or coordinate physician appointments for residents. Communicate physician appointments with nursing and other appropriate departments.
2. Utilize the computerized resident calendar for all appointments if available.
3. If deemed necessary and family is not present, stay with resident at appointment.
4. If a resident needs additional hands on assistance during physician visit, driver or designee will make arrangements to have resident,s responsible party/designee or certified/licenses staff member present during visit.
5. If the resident needs oxygen, nursing staff will ensure all necessary equipment is set up for transport.
6. Make sure residents are well groomed before leaving the facility.
7. Make sure all the necessary paperwork is taken to the appointment, and check with resident,s nurse for any last minute pertinent updates.
8. Ensure phone is in van and charged.
9. Review of emergency procedures. Kept in vehicle.
10. Review of van driver preparation check list. Kept in vehicle.
11. During transport, ensure resident is secured in van with a lap restraint and shoulder harness.
12. Provide a communications link between the physician and facility.
13. Provide for resident needs while at an appointment.
14. Act as a representative of the facility at all times. May involve some marketing tasks as appropriate.
15. Keep van clean and free of trash and debris.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY II: Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require unplanned Category I tasks
