It is the responsibility of the R D Chemist to formulate new products and maintain existing formulas to maximize sales of unique and specialized metalworking fluids.

The R D Chemist reports directly to the Manager of Research and Development and routinely works with other laboratory staff members. An R D Chemist should expect to work with raw materials and finished products with moderate supervision as they become trained within the metalworking fluid industry.

1. Support R D projects through benchwork, analytical testing, or literature review.
2. Develop new formulas.
3. Modify existing formulas or specifications.
4. Evaluate raw materials.
5. Support quality control and fill-in as scheduling dictates (<10%).
6. Become a liaison between R D and sales to support customer relations.
7. Become knowledgeable with suppliers and raw materials.
8. Become familiar with our customers and product line.
9. Become familiar with metalworking processes.
10. Assist in maintaining cleanliness, health, and safety standards of laboratory.
11. Travel (<15%) to visit customers or attend industry events.
12. Keep abreast of all industry wide developments.
13. Present findings and data to executive team or others as needed.

1. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with industrial or metalworking experience preferred.

2. Experience as a Chemical Technician with at least two years of formulation experience. Candidate must be willing to finish coursework to earn a STEM focused four-year degree.
