Santa Clara Pueblo Administrative is Hiring a Service coordinator Near ola, NM

Position Summary :

Works under the direct supervision of the Social Services / Behavioral Health Director. Responsible for the overall coordination of the Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Program which is funded by the DOJ-Office of Victim of Crimes, to develop and implement program, establish guidelines and policies, and lead program activities.

Report to funding agency and the tribal administration on progress. Oversees the day-to-day activities associated with the operation of the program and set the foundations of a permanent victim services program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assists the Program Director with budget projections; documentation; correspondence for reporting purposes to the funding agency to meet the goals and objectives of the Tribal Victim Services program.
  • Serves as a liaison for intervention with the Santa Clara Tribal Courts in the assistance and interactions with victims of crime that have occurred on Santa Clara Pueblo lands.
  • Shall lead Pueblo agency meetings for victim services and ensure that all resources are available immediately for victims.
  • Accompanies victims to court proceedings and informs victims about their constitutional and statutory mandated victim's rights.

Assesses victim needs and acts as a resource for community service referrals.

  • Assists victims in securing Orders of Protection and Injunctions against Harassment. Will contact victims if their aggressor has been released from incarceration.
  • Engages in follow-up contact with domestic violence victims after case disposition.
  • Responsible for administrative responsibilities that include detailed reports, logs, and any other pertinent documentation needed in reference to the victim.
  • Help victims fill-out victim compensation applications.
  • Maintains the highest possible levels of confidentiality in all communications with victims, and referred agencies.
  • Participates in discussions with tribal leadership and other interested parties to improve conditions of tribal members.
  • Communicates with other outside service provider agencies and continuing liaison with local, state, and regional agencies.
  • Maintains professional knowledge by attending meetings, workshops and training related to victim services program to include : substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, bullying / cyberbullying, suicide, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

  • Knowledge of and ability to use community resources.
  • Knowledge of Santa Clara Pueblo culture, traditions, and customs and understand and preferably speak Tewa fluently.
  • Knowledge of the Pueblo's mental health systems and services.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills both verbally and in writing and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.
  • Ability to independently follow the goals objectives and intervention in a plan of care and monitor, assess and record victim progress in care plan and make adjustments to care plans and services.
  • Ability to consistently establish positive relationships, communicate effectively and work cooperatively with youth / children and families, colleagues, supervisor and tribal programs.
  • Ability to work with victims in a supportive, nonjudgmental manner in home and with community tribal programs.
  • Must be able to maintain strict victim confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Able to deal with families and individuals and provide feedback on highly sensitive, confidential issues.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Associate degree in mental health or related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and 3-4 years of experience in the areas of the judicial system, Law Enforcement or Counseling / Advocacy Services.
  • Position preference is given to a Tewa-speaking individual with strong cultural understanding of Pueblo cultures.
  • Must not have any DUI's / DWI's convictions within the last five years from any Tribal, State or Federal Court.
  • Must possess a valid NM Driver's license and be insurable under the tribes insurance.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel;

reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
