Machine Operator II (Welder Assistant)

Pay Range: $23-24/hour

*At 90 days, qualified employees will be assessed for $1/hour pay increase based upon performance.

Shift: M-F 7:00 AM-3:30 PM with occasional overtime as business needs demand

Overview

The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator II (Welder Assistant) is to support the lead welder(s) in various welding, brazing or cutting tasks during welding operations.

Responsibilities

• Ability to produce parts with hand tools or machine to exact specifications
• Attention to detail and must be alert to quality issues
• Must be able to use a tape measure
• Loading/unloading materials
• Maintain good housekeeping in work area
• Knowledge of how to cut components to length
• Ability to bend components to spec
• Examine workpieces for defects, and measure workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using ruler, jigs and clamps in combination.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in superior safety and quality practices
• 1-3 years of welding experience
• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred
• Must be familiar with various hand and power tools
• Manufacturing environment experience a plus

Environmental Conditions:

• Temperature and Humidity levels may be elevated during summer months.
• There may be some exposure to loud noise levels, at times.

Physical Demands:

• The use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, helmets, and hearing protection is utilized daily. 
• Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs without physical restrictions.
