Title: Medical Records Specialist

Location: Louisville, KY
Travel: This position will travel to all Louisville Bennett and Bloom locations (Bluesgrass Ave., South End will be main office). Please only apply if comfortable with local Louisville travel.

Essential Functions
- Accurately and efficiently scan medical surgery charts into the appropriate EMR chart
- Accurately and efficiently fill out FMLA/ Disability forms
- Release information to patients, healthcare facilities, and other entities while following all laws and regulations including HIPAA
- Assist in scanning all patient forms and testing into the appropriate EMR chart
- Assist in release of medical records to insurance companies, lawyers, state and federal agencies
- Maintain a good working relationship within the department and other departments
- Maintain good communication with manager, department and other departments
- Adhere to company requirements, policies and standards
- Provide excellent patient service
- Assist in answering medical records calls in the department
- Assist in monitoring incoming fax
- Assist teammates as needed
- Responsible for receiving task from doctors and staff to request records from outside providers and facilities. Will contact the offices via phone and request, keep a spreadsheet and follow up until information is received in a timely manner.
- Back up to open and distribute mail
- Back up to process items sent from other locations via inter office “buckets” that come to the main location and distribute items (internal mail, paper charts, medical records request etc)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred
- Basic computer knowledge
