Midwest Unlimited is Hiring a Controller / Office Manager Near Lincoln, NE

Job DescriptionThe Accountant / Controller / Office Manager is responsible for performing technical accounting and auditing functions of moderate difficulty and responsibility which include, but are not limited to, bank and ledger reconciliation, report generation, A/R and A/P functions, Collections, Payroll and document verification., HR functions.... we area small company with less than 20 employees. Essentially, the person in this position runs the office and accounting functions with the help of an assistant when needed.RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION :
  • Manage the accounting department to ensure all tasks are being completed correctly and professionally.
  • Balance bank records and prepares monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Ensure that all bills are getting paid on time and that discounts are taken when available.
  • Ensure customer statements and invoices are being mailed in an efficient manner.
  • Monitor the company's cash situation, transfer money between accounts and pre-determine any borrowing needs.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance in all internal procedures and that audit trail is maintained.
  • Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Completes daily A/P and A/R tasks.
  • Completes weekly payroll tasks, enter timesheets and produce payroll.
  • Reviews, approves and reconciles employee expense reports.
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks accounting software
  • Assist in implementing any new accounting systems or procedures and training associated staff members.
  • Works closely with the company's accounting firm to ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns.
  • Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Verifies financial documents for accuracy and detail.
  • Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Prepares various financial spreadsheets to assist the process of month-end closure of financial records
  • Meets with upper management and makes recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS :
  • Has ability to make complex calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Proficient typing and word processing skills necessary for the creation and compilation of various documents, communications and reports.
  • Computer skills necessary to effectively utilize word processing, database, spreadsheet applications, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent Problem solving skills.
  • Assertive personality, and able to effectively bring improvements to the team.
  • Proficient in Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with other employees, vendors, customers and agencies in the exchange of information using tact and patience.
  • Mental ability to frequently handle pressures related to simultaneous handling of multiple projects and working on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent distractions due to people and/or telephone calls.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned by business need.
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field preferred.
  • Must successfully complete any applicable pre-employment testing
