Shelia's Helping Hands Job Description for In Home Health Care Aides
Shelia's Helping Hands is looking for compassionate, respectful, and caring home health care providers, to join our growing team of caregivers. As a home health caregiver with our company, you will provide essential services to homebound elderly clients or patient with disabilities, a chronic illness, or other health issues. Our ideal candidate is patient, independent, and self-sufficient, who enjoys taking care of others. Our healthcare company requires a caring and compassionate Home Health Care Aide to work with a variety of patients in the local area. The Home Health Care Aide will be responsible for accompanying patients to local doctor's appointments, assisting patients with personal care and health monitoring and helping to maintain a clean home environment for each patient.
Responsibilities:
Provide health care services in patients' residences
Medication reminders
Assist with clients’ personal care activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating)
Assist with transportation and accompany patients to doctor’s office or hospital
Assist patients with mobility and physical therapies/exercises
Provide companionship and basic emotional or psychological support
Help the patient in/out of bed, to the bathroom, with chairs and wheelchairs, and in/out of cars
Perform simple housekeeping tasks (change bed linens, do laundry, and tidy rooms)
Handle grocery shopping and food preparation
Make efforts to keep the patient engaged mentally through conversation, games, and other forms of entertainment
Establish relationships and trust with patients and their families
Responsible for knowing when to report to your supervisor
Responsible for recognizing, correcting, or reporting safety hazards to the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
Possess high school diploma or its equivalent
Possess valid CNA license/HHA certificate/Ability to pass written HCA test and skills
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
Possess reliable transportation; car ownership/valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance
Ability to understand and follow instructions in patients’ homes through phone
Ability to observe and report changes in patients’ conditions on documentation and to supervising health professional
Strong ability of consistency and punctuality to work
Respectful, patient, and positive minded individual
Possess passion in helping the elderly or people with illness or disability
Comfortable providing medical care within close proximity to patients
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
Exceptional patient service skills
Empathy for the hardship experienced by the patient and the patient’s family
Ability to maintain composure with patients who present challenging behavior
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to work a schedule that includes occasional weekends, holidays, and evenings
