Job Responsibilities

• Perform initial, in process, and final inspections on product to ensure requirements are met
• Inspect work performed by subcontract services to requirements
• Perform and record NDE (MPI, PT, UT) to identify indications in product
• Perform and record visual inspections to identify issues in product
• Take and record mechanical and electrical runouts
• Measure and record product features using various measuring instruments to precision of 0.0001”
• Perform hardness tests on materials and products
• Perform positive material identification (PMI) on materials and products
• Raise NCR’s on non-conforming product
• Calibrate/verify measuring instruments as required
• Communicate status of work or issues to Group Leaders and Supervision
• Utilize Stop Work Authority when necessary
• Work overtime and weekends when required
• Cross train in additional products and skills
• Work in other departments when necessary
• Keep current on any safety or job training required
• Maintain a clean and orderly working environment
• Return tooling when work is complete or at end of shift

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Proven ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and instructions in preparation for inspection activities
• Set up and use of various dimensional tools (Outside and inside micrometers, Various sizes and styles of vernier calipers, machinist scales, various ranges, and types of dial indicators, etc.)
• Microsoft office suite of applications understanding and ability to report dimensional measurements in a technical manner (word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must be capable of performing tool calibration utilizing company procedures and work instructions without supervision
• Completed the minimum training hours with supervision as per table 2 below for the trainee role or demonstrate appropriate knowledge in the areas in the table
• Must be capable of performing and correctly documenting Incoming and Final Inspections as directed by work instructions without supervision.
• Must be capable of defining different levels of defects effectively to communicate to engineering team level of wear of components noted during inspection activities
• Ability to evaluate the work of other inspectors and provide guidance on training opportunities, methods, and techniques
• Ability to evaluate and provide guidance on different inspection methods to use based on parts/work required
• Ability to successfully train inspection techniques and methods to help develop other NDE inspectors and other shop employees in inspection tech
• Ability to have technical discussion with internal and external teams/personnel to drive defect classification reasoning and help determine best path forward for repairs regarding inspection techniques used.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year experience in an inspection field preferred

Education Requirements

• Completion of a 40 / 80-hour NDT training course.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified to National Standard as a Level II
