Temporary/Permanent: Temporary - Not to Exceed: December 31, 2024
Other Conditions: Extramural funds. Appointment to begin July 2024 or soon thereafter. Renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance, project needs, and availability of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The graduate assistant will assist project Hawaii Education Research Network (HERN) design and implementation under the direction of the Principal Investigator and project staff with duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in literature reviews 
  • Assist in the design and development of learning experiences and technology prototypes focusing on artificial intelligence in schools 
  • Assist in data collections and analyses at school sites 
  • Assist in research instrument design and development 
  • Assist in writing and dissemination of research papers, projects, and reports 
  • Attend monthly HERN fellow meetings
  • Willing to present the work at HERN events (e.g., brown bag webinars, HERN summit) 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Full-time, classified graduate status in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA) at the University of Hawaii Manoa. 
  2. Experience in working for an educational project and program.
  3. Excellent writing and editorial skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  4. Experience in learning experience design, publications, or media production using authoring tools. 
  5. Experience in basic technology use. 
  6. Proven capability to prioritize, plan, and organize tasks effectively, with the ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team setting.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Experience in academic publications (including systematic review and meta-analysis and empirical studies) 
  2. Have experiences with artificial intelligence in education activities. 
  3. Familiarity with K-12 schools in the state of Hawai?i.
  4. Working experience in designing and developing learning technologies 
  5. Knowledge and skills in learning experience design. 
  6. Experience with programming languages
