West Fraser is Hiring an Accounts Receivable Specialist, Senior Near Germantown, TN

The Senior Specialist’s primary responsibility is processing payments received and applying those payments to the customer’s account, identifying, and resolving issues for payment posting, and reporting on AR metrics. Limited travel between offices may be required.

What you will do:

  • Applying cash daily, coordinating with AR team on any system or IT issues. Taking a proactive role and performing steps to resolve various issues with cash application.
  • Working with AR Supervisor to establish ways to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Supporting audit activities and month-end close. The AR specialist will have various month-end responsibilities, as assigned, that are extremely important for reporting purposes. Equally important is support of audit requirements, as requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Reconciling customer account transactions by comparing, identifying, and processing corrective action.
  • Performing account reconciliations between sub ledger and general ledger.
  • Resolving problems; completing audits; testing and implementing system improvements, implementing changes.
  • Accurately applying customer payments in appropriate general ledger and customer accounts; balancing to bank reports and/or statements.
  • Fulfilling requests submitted from internal and external customers.
  • Consulting with customers to resolve complaints and verify financial and credit transactions.
  • Identifying and resolving payment discrepancies and answer customer inquiries as needed.
  • Supporting Credit and Collections activities as needed.
  • Supporting the month end close process for accounts receivable.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reports as required, including ad hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Producing monthly and quarterly AR metrics reports and supporting the development of new or enhanced AR metrics.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of systems changes for AR applications
  • Supporting special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Adhering to customer service standards in working with customers.
  • Protecting operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Qualifications you will need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in accounts receivable and or credit and collections
  • Experience working in a SOX control environment is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • A detailed and proactive approach to work
  • A mindset for process improvement and efficiency
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Oracle EBS, JDE, and BI reporting is considered an asset
