Central New Mexico Community College is Hiring an Energy specialist Near Farmington, NM

Position Summary

This position provides specialized support for School of Energy programs.

MAJORDUTIES

  • Markets School of Energy programs both via social media and in-person outreach.
  • Travels to industry, institutional and tribal partner sites to establish and strengthen relationships and recruit new students.
  • Participates in, travels to and represents the School of Energy at regionalSTEMevents.
  • Initiates and conducts virtual and in-person recruiting events such as Open Houses.
  • Oversees and coordinates special community events such as Career Pathways Expo and Energy Week.
  • Provides support for program coordinators in academic advisement, career planning advising for new, returning, continuing, transfer and online students.
  • Processes School of Energy scholarship applications; tracks scholarship awards; maintains related records. Participates in School of Energy scholarship evaluation committee.
  • Assumes special projects and produces reports as assigned by the Dean.
  • Assists Program Coordinators with Program Review and Assessment.
  • Assists industry customers in scheduling special classes; prepares custom publications for industry classes.
  • Coordinates with industry representatives to recruit students and provide specialized classes. Prepares custom publications for industry classes.
  • Refers students to campus and community resources.
  • Inputs course changes, additions and inactivations into Curriculog.
  • Represents the School of Energy on the Curriculum Committee.
  • Provides administrative assistance to the Dean as needed.
  • Processes student registrations.
  • Attends a variety of school and program meetings.
  • Performs related duties.

KNOWLEDGEREQUIREDBYTHE POSITION

  • Knowledge of industry, educational and tribal practices and standards.
  • Knowledge of School of Energy degree and certificate programs and graduation requirements.
  • Knowledge of database management principles.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development principles.
  • Knowledge of campus and community resources.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

SUPERVISORYCONTROLS

The Dean of the School of Energy assigns work in terms of goals and objectives. The Dean (supervisor) reviews work through conferences, reports, discussions, and observation of School performance and activities.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include accreditation requirements, industry standards, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act regulations and college and program policies and procedures.

These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY / SCOPEOFWORK

  • The work consists of varied evaluation, consultation and strategic relationship building duties. The variety of tasks to be managed contributes to the complexity of the position.
  • The necessity of traveling and the varied technical nature of the objectives contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • The work requires specialized knowledge concerning the construction of technical papers and the management of special projects.

  • Contacts are typically to build or establish strategic partnerships, give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services.

PHYSICALDEMANDS / WORKENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.

The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.

  • The work is typically performed in an office, laboratory or classroom.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having had similar experience for two or more years.
