About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Ohio Edison Service CO., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. OE PP

Location : Elyria, Ohio

A. Duties

Under general directive supervision, this position performs a variety of credit related duties to minimize account arrears and write-offs primarily through field collection activities of collecting past due balances, completing disconnections and reconnections of accounts, which may be energized up to 300 volts;

provides receipts for monies collected; complete orders, travels by foot, by vehicle, or by public conveyance, to perform duties including but not limited to :

  • Collecting past due or other bills and on such bills executing "Collect or Disconnect" orders; blocking and unblocking meters and placing block on final, using approved methods;
  • providing receipts for monies collected; depositing collections at collection agencies or bringing collections into the service center as directed;
  • Tabulating the proper records associated with the collections and recording customer usage.
  • Reporting abnormal work conditions or incidents by telephone or radio; completing daily work reports and driving slips;

making required meter and other service reports; performing associated clerical work and record keeping.

  • Communicating with customers regarding delinquent account balances, and related work activities
  • Representing the Company properly and professionally to the public by channeling or answering inquiries concerning collections or readings.
  • Keeping materials and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Maintaining an adequate supply of required equipment / supplies on hand to ensure they are readily available.
  • Directing and training assigned employees as necessary.
  • Adhering to all safety policies and procedures

B. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, the individual must meet the Company's requirements with regard to the General Qualifications.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Meter Reading or equivalent field work experienced is preferred.
  • Able to travel using personal vehicle to account sites and demonstrated map reading skills to determine most efficient route to work locations.
  • Must have a practical knowledge of and the ability to correctly and safely use and care for the tools utilized in the job.
  • Must be observant and able to accurately report irregularities found in the field.
  • Must know the rules, safety practices, and procedures required for performing the work.
  • Must be able to pass any driving test required by the Company and hold a valid, State of Ohio, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Operator's License.
