Overview
The Senior Vice President of Debt will lead a team overseeing a portfolio of commercial real estate debt investments, inclusive of private loans and public securities. The ideal candidate understands the importance of engaging and empowering a team of highly talented, technical, and professional analysts and associates, and can effectively communicate as a Client lead. The right fit for this role is an agile team player who enjoys working cross-functionally with different parts of the organization while managing and maintaining a standard of excellence on their individual team. An ideal candidate will have held similar positions in debt asset management across all asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
    • Establish and cultivate best asset management practices for the oversight of a portfolio of debt investments across all property types (office, industrial, hotel, retail, multifamily & residential), corporate debt, and various securitized products;
    • Act as an owner of process improvements to lead change and mentor an analytics team;
    • Proactively strengthen relationships internally and externally with Clients, Sponsors, and Brokers- working with leading members of the Bellwether management team;
    • Build and enhance asset management tools to identify risks to the portfolio and lead efforts to mitigate such risks with consistent, fact-based, decision recommendations;
    • Monitor asset financial performance and provide key diagnosis and strategic recommendations on areas of challenge and opportunity with a thorough understanding of all factors affecting capital markets and collateral submarkets;
    • Lead various due diligence and underwriting functions as required by Clients;
    • Review and evolve quarterly Client deliverables.
    • People Management Responsibilities
    • Involved with staff selection, interviewing and training as needed;
    • Oversee the day-to-day workload and performance of direct reports, providing clear direction and support as needed to achieve work objectives;
    • Ensure that direct reports understand their duties and delegated tasks;
    • Monitor performance and development of direct reports and provide constructive and timely feedback and coaching;
    • Work with direct reports to set individual goals and deadlines and conduct regular performance reviews aligned with performance review process; and
    • Handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy.
Professional Experience
    • A minimum of 10 years' relevant experience
    • Similar positions in acquisitions, asset management, or development of commercial office or industrial assets preferred; client-facing experience preferred
    • A minimum of 5 years management experience
    • Real estate investment, lending, and/or asset management experience, including development and analysis of real estate-based financial models, underwriting, valuations, discounted cash flows, and load modifications
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and ARGUS Enterprise
Education/Certification
    • Bachelor's degree required. Business, Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field of study preferred
    • Master's degree or MBA preferred

Travel Requirements
    • Local and/or nationwide travel to assets and client sites required on an as-needed basis, approximately
    • 1-2 times per month depending on deal list.
Physical & Mental Demands

$200,000 - $215,000 a year
$200,000 - $215,000 base salary, plus discretionary bonus. Offered salary is based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.
