About the Company:
Our client is a real estate investment firm based in Brooklyn - As they expand their portfolio they are looking to add a rockstar Staff Accountant to the team that will be responsible for the finances of 10 properties! Learn under an amazing Controller - No previous real estate experience required!
What You'll Be Doing:
- Conduct monthly reconciliations for a set of 10-20 property portfolios.
- Handle both cash and accrual accounting for individual property entities.
- Record a range of general ledger transactions, from bank transfers to interest earnings and expense adjustments.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly financial reports.
- Assess and detail variances between actual and budgeted financial performance.
- Supervise cash flow and process invoices for payment thrice monthly to sustain positive cash flow and guarantee timely vendor settlements.
- Ensure the punctual settlement of property taxes while maintaining adequate funding.
- Keep security deposit records current and accurate.
- Aid the tax accountant by supplying essential financial information for federal, state, and local tax submissions.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting cycle by gathering property manager data and meeting the budget proposal deadline.
What We're Looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of accounting experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in real estate, real estate brokerage industries is a plus.
- Experience with accounting ERP systems.
