About us: After Hours Project (AHP) is a community-based organization specializing in HIV prevention and harm reduction. Our services include outreach & education, HIV, Hep C & STI testing, syringe access, overdose prevention, buprenorphine treatment, mental health services, case management, individual counseling, supportive services, family stabilization and housing for HIV individuals. Services are provided both on site at our multiple locations and via mobile vans. We provide a welcoming and non-judgmental environment and we challenge stigmas related to drug use, HIV/AIDS and homelessness.
Job Description: Provide prevention counseling to young men who have sex with men (MSM), who are HIV positive and undocumented. Primary responsibilities include:
· Conduct outreach
· Complete client intakes, assessments and track and analyze client recovery progression
· Provide prevention counseling
· Teach clients coping mechanisms
· Identify recovery interferences and address issues
· Provide clients with necessary referrals and track outcomes
· Advocate on behalf of clients
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, homelessness and/or substance abuse;
· Experience working in a low-threshold environment
· Excellent oral, written and organizational skills and detail oriented
· Knowledge of harm reduction practices, theory and strategies preferred
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
· Individuals with personal experience related to substance use and/or HIV/AIDS are encouraged to apply
